Margaret Ziemann, MPH

Research Scientist, Fitzhugh Mullan Institute for Health Workforce Equity

Ms. Ziemann is a Research Scientist with the Fitzhugh Mullan Institute for Health Workforce Equity. Her interests lie in the upstream determinants of health and advancing evidence-based policy solutions to address health inequities in the U.S. Ms. Ziemann has over eight years of experience in qualitative research and policy analysis in the academic research environment. She has been a key member of federally and foundation-funded research teams evaluating young adult tobacco use and cessation, as well as school district physical activity and nutrition standards as they relate to student-level outcomes and federal and state regulatory compliance. Ms. Ziemann has made significant contributions to publications that have informed state and national-level policy discussions on the school wellness environment due to this research. Most recently, Ms. Ziemann led the development of a patient education program for individuals with chronic disease as part of the leadership team for a national patient advocacy organization. Ms. Ziemann received her Master of Public Health degree in health policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
