About
This study seeks to generate a comprehensive understanding of the workforce experiences of hematology fellows and practicing hematologists. Through systematic data collection and analysis, the project will identify key workforce challenges affecting these groups, with a focus on three primary domains: compensation, career advancement opportunities and recognition, and burnout and job satisfaction.
Building on these insights, the study will develop actionable strategies to address identified challenges and strengthen the hematology workforce. The ultimate goal is to support a more resilient, sustainable, and satisfied workforce that is better equipped to meet current and future patient care needs. This information will subsequently be used to develop strategies to address workforce challenges in hematology and foster a more resilient workforce.
To provide insight into the key workforce issues that hematologists face, we will conduct surveys and focus groups with:
- Hematologists in training or early career
- Hematologists in mid-to late-career
- Academic leadership
- Industry leadership
In addition, to obtain data regarding pay, access to career development opportunities, career advancement, assignment of non-promotion-related tasks, and other workforce advancement challenges and opportunities, we will administer surveys to:
- Practicing hematologists in North America at all career levels
- Hematology/oncology fellows in all years of training
