Advancing the Home Care Workforce: A Review of Program Approaches, Evidence, and the Challenges of Widespread Adoption
With funding from the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation, the Mullan Institute conducted a study to assess the national landscape of existing strategies and interventions that seek to facilitate the advancement of roles of the home care workforce [personal care aides (PCA) and home health aides (HCA)] who serve the elderly population, as a means for improving both worker and patient outcomes. This studied examined the evidence of effectiveness, mechanisms, or pathways of change and identify promising practices emerging in specific local contexts. The below report provides data and recommendations to inform grantmaking strategy, primarily in the region of Southeast Michigan and Western New York.
